With a very light color for a 35-year-old wine, this champagne has a superb, millimeter-perfect bubble. Produced from a plentiful harvest (the champagne doubled its stock that year), this superb cuvée is also a benchmark of quality. Monsieur Gimonnet himself places it in the pantheon of great years along with 2002, 1964 and 1979. The opening nose, with notes of fruit and brioche, is simply sublime. On the palate, the wine is superlatively complex, with freshness, purity, evolution and tension. No trace of fatigue and an infinite finish for this benchmark of great Côte des Blancs Chardonnays.
