Gault&Millau's review 2025

The famous Sauternes premier grand cru classé is well known, but less well known is the fact that this estate is also home to a luxury hotel, now under the management of the Lalique Group. Restored by architects Lady Tina Green and Pietro Mingarelli, the 17th-century château - set amidst the vines - boasts 3 suites and 10 rooms spread over two floors, decorated with beautiful exposed beams and walls in shades of pink and red that echo the world of wine. Sumptuous Lalique pieces (crystal faucets, vine-leaf sconces) add the ultimate touch of refinement. The petit salon is a must for a glass of wine from the estate, before discovering the gourmet restaurant led by chef Jérôme Schilling, which combines a historic dining room and its contemporary extension, designed by architect Mario Botta and fitted out under a sumptuous glass roof. A rare place, a member of the Relais & Châteaux group.
