50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir make up this cuvée. It includes a majority of grand crus, of course, but also some of the House's historic premier crus, such as Vertus and the little-known but often superb Trépail. 8 years on its lees, 10 years of waiting in all, for a 2008 of astonishing youthfulness: the color is clear and brilliant, the citrus notes are just beginning to mellow, giving way to a complex interplay of fine honey, damp chalk, white flowers and fresh fruit. On the palate, the wine is both fresh and silky, with great balance. The whole promises a magnificent evolution, reminding Laurent Fresnet, Henriot's cellar master, of the great 1988 vintage when the House was only 180 years old. Enjoy with sea bream tartar with salicornia.
