Gourmet Restaurant At the end of Les Marquisats, in a moderately touristy area, L'Artisan has built up a fine reputation among locals, who haven't hesitated to brave the many barriers in this neighborhood undergoing construction. The interior is divided between two areas: at the counter, face-to-face with this warm, smiling chef, or in the second room with a little more comfort and less atmosphere. The young team offers simple cuisine made with beautiful products. Damien Decelle, who worked alongside Anthony Bonnet at Lyon's Cour des Loges for many years, knows how to select the best produce. For starters, the pressé of Angus beef, red cabbage and beet is enhanced by this tarragon mayonnaise. The lentil velouté is a harmonious accompaniment to a hazelnut cream cheese. Line-caught pollack is enhanced by a (not sufficiently) lemony butter and, for dessert, a ganache montée chocolat confit de citron vert, or this sablé breton, crème diplomate, et poires comices. A good time and a first chef's hat to consolidate, provided the chef gets away from pompous names and keeps things fresh and simple.
