Description

François Chaumont was established in 1994 in the Montagne de Reims, with 17 hectares in Puisieulx which is the smallest Grand Cru in Champagne. Since 2008, he has vinified all of his harvests using the infrastructures of his wife Marie-Hélène, the winemaker at Champagne Michel Littière (a regular feature in our guide). The François Chaumont estate only produces single variety cuvées made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Gault&Millau review
Très rafraîchissant et en même temps puissant et doté d’une belle amertume, ce champagne encore jeune déroule sa trame acidulée, ponctuée de jolis amers. Attendre encore quelques années pour l'apprécier avec une dorade en croûte de sel.

This fine cuvée is a very good price for the pleasure it gives. The dosage compensates the freshness which remains the trademark of the estate. It remains crisp, though more consensual than the Extra brut cuvée, for a more accessible pleasure. A very good option for a nice party. You should always keep a bottle if this cuvée ready to be open.

Gault&Millau review
This extra brut opens up salty and floral on the palate. This cuvée is a very good price for the pleasure it gives (and for a Grand Cru). It reveals notes of citrus fruits. This freshness would match well with an aperitif or a dish with iodine flavours. The length of the wine is mouth-watering, joyful and invigorating. This champagne could be a great companion for a night under the stars.

Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut (Magnum)

Millesime BSA
Gault&Millau review

Gault&Millau review
We love the Rosé champagnes with strong personalities, and which call for a good meal. With its beautiful deep colour and juicy fruitiness, this is one of them. It is a very pleasant cuvée. It reveals its trademark of citrus fruit and freshness accompanied this time by delightful raspberry and cherry notes. This champagne would match well with a pigeon.
