17 years on lees for this rare 2002 from the Pierry terroir, disgorged in 2020. The nose immediately evokes those champagnes that know how to take their time, with notes of mushroom, undergrowth, petroleum and blond tobacco. Then come dried fruit and menthol notes. On the palate, the evanescent bubbles lead to a wine that is now perfectly ripe to accompany a first-class dish. We opt for a lobster cooked over a wood fire.
