This 1999 vintage is a complete, mature wine. It offers a reassuring bouquet of baked mirabelle plums, vine peaches, praline, then dates, verbena and tobacco. The nose is constantly evolving. On the palate, the wine's barrel ageing gives it a velvety, finely tannic structure, enhanced by a delicate, slightly padded bubble. A pigeon de Racan en crapaudine would be an excellent partner for this mythical cuvée... to be enjoyed (at least) once in a lifetime!
