The signature effervescence of this estate's cuvées is again found in this cuvée: very, very fine, elegant bubbles. The first, rather discreet nose opens up with aeration to citrus zest and almond. As it evolves, notes of iodine and exotic fruits (passion fruit, pineapple, lime) appear, titillated by hints of brioche. On the palate, the wine delivers a certain suavity and delicacy, with an original, unctuous texture, supported by notes of tart white fruit, green apple, fresh redcurrants and rhubarb. Rising acidity makes the palate salivate, but contrasts with honeyed notes on the finish. Chalky minerality adds an extra touch to the long finish. A bottle still too young to drink now. Cellar it for a long time before uncorking!

Alfred Gratien
Many wineries and estates are passed down from father to son or from father to daughter. At Alfred Gratien, a different kind of succession has been taking place since 1905: that of the cellar master. The first was Gaston Jaeger. He taught the trade to his son Charles, who in turn taught it to his son Jean-Pierre. For the past 20 years, Nicolas Jaeger has been carrying on what his father taught him over many years. This unique lineage is reflected in the style of the house’s champagnes, which remains consistent thanks to the knowledge, techniques, and sensibilities that only such a lineage can pass down.
