Gourmet Restaurant On the Alsace wine route, here's a graceful 1900s-style half-timbered pavilion, converted into a gourmet guinguette in a Nordic decorative spirit. German-born chef-patron Michaela Peters, who formerly worked at the Rendez-Vous de Chasse in Colmar, cooks up a market cuisine brightened by a few good ideas, even if gourmandise was sometimes lacking during our last meal. The pumpkin ravioli, accompanied by Alsatian mushrooms and a parmesan emulsion, are enhanced by hazelnuts and a pumpkin seed crumble. Fresh, precision-seared monkfish medallions from Brittany are served with a very raw beet coulis and a cauliflower risotto in which the rice is replaced by the vegetable, but without any seasoning. Grilled wild boar chops with Kampot pepper, rosy but a little firm for our taste, are highlighted by braised kale with Colonnata bacon and a slightly reduced jus, while pommes dauphines dressed with a pastry bag are deliciously regressive. The highlight of the meal comes at dessert time: the passion fruit and mango crisp marinated with finely dosed Timur berries is the only dish on the two-toque level. The wine list features a number of local favourites: Deiss, Josmeyer, Trimbach, Sipp, Rolly-Gassmann and Lorentz. In fine weather, the terrace under the catalpa trees is the perfect place for country-style evenings.
