Gault&Millau's review 2025

One of the city's most emblematic addresses, and one of its most seductive. Close to the Musée Unterlinden (home to the famous Issenheim Altarpiece), La Maison des Têtes, built in the early 17th century, owes its name to the profusion of sculptures that still decorate its façade today. Now transformed into a hotel, this address is particularly noteworthy for its unique blend of contemporary aesthetics and Alsatian heritage. This is demonstrated by the 21 rooms, with white walls to highlight the woodwork, and the contrasting atmospheres of the Brasserie Historique, with its wooden alcoves and stained glass windows, and the Restaurant Girardin, nestled in an immaculate setting, with an alcove, this time in fabric, that takes on an avant-garde feel. A Relais & Châteaux member, this address is also worth a visit for its beautiful inner courtyard, where you can sit down as soon as the first rays of sunshine arrive.
