Outstanding Hotel History buffs, this is the place for you! Built in 1341 and owned by the same family since its origins, this château unfolds some six centuries of Basque history: Louis XI stayed here in 1463, Louis XIV made the estate a viscounty in 1654, Wellington invited himself here during the Napoleonic Wars... Although its high towers remain intact, the estate has been extensively transformed and now offers the charms of a warm and welcoming family home, with 10 ultra-comfortable rooms decorated with 18th and 19th century furniture, a swimming pool hidden away in the magnificent 6-hectare park which also boasts a beautiful rose garden, all cooled by the Untxin, a delightful little coastal river. An ideal base from which to explore the Basque country, close to Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Ciboure with its beautiful Socoa beach.
