Gault&Millau's review 2025

It was once a wooden bar where sailors used to meet and the headquarters of the local pelota club. Now transformed into a hotel, this Labourdine house is THE meeting place for Guéthary's surfers. The terrace boasts magnificent ocean views, and the upstairs accommodation includes 5 delightfully retro bedrooms with vintage furniture, Basque fabrics (designed by Martine Boulard, one of the housewives, who is also a textile designer) and beautiful bathrooms with antique pedestal bathtubs. Le Madrid also offers a full range of treatments, including massages and body scrubs. Surfers will appreciate the space on the landing for their surfboards, as will the hotel's location, just a 5-minute walk from the beaches.
