Gault&Millau's review 2025

Just a few kilometers from the ocean, an address that bears witness to the splendor of the inland Basque country, with its rivers, meadows and shadowy Pyrenees... A haven for lovers of calm and unspoilt landscapes, the Auberge Basque nevertheless reinvents the idea of a nature break, with a skilful mix of tradition and contemporaneity that gives the place all its character. The traditional auberge faces a building with a modernist feel, housing 12 rooms and suites decorated by Marion Béchade (owner with her husband, Cédric) with stained parquet floors and furniture by Sarah Lavoine, Hartô, Élitis or local craftsmen. Conceived with the same spirit, the restaurant led by Cédric is now an institution, acclaimed for its singular cuisine that sublimates a terroir that respects nature. Try it for dinner, or at one of our gourmet brunches throughout the year.
