Luxury here is not an approximate notion, as La Maison de Bacon is set overlooking the sea, on the Cap d'Antibes peninsula, and boasts a well-appointed décor, panoramic terrace, rooftop, private lounge and elegant furnishings, all of which have recently been completely renovated. In the kitchen, our Bocuse d'Or winner Nicolas Davouze pays homage to the great Mediterranean tradition, with classic bouillabaisse served in two courses, gambero rosso carpaccio, langoustine ravioli, loup en croûte... The menu is clear and generous, with a precise focus on the essentials. The "Esprit de Midi" menu at €69 remains a bargain in a house where the bill can soar à la carte. Surprises include a deep-sea salmon with citrus and pomegranate accents, a celery and Granny Smith risotto topped with a pearly scorpion fish fillet, or a dessert with a nod to the Bounty, served with Catherine Brothier's ZK paste ice cream, which unfortunately melted too much on arrival. The wine list (282 references) favors Provence and Burgundy, with fine labels. Service, despite a warm welcome, suffers from a few approximations (wrong order, badly presented wine, dessert that takes too long to pass). All in all, a generous establishment with an assertive identity that deserves service to match its cuisine.
