Gault&Millau's review 2026

This address in the Carmes Esquirol district was opened in autumn 2024 by a couple of chefs, Cédric Leclerc (a master crêpier originally from Brittany) and Mayumi Okusa (a pastry chef originally from Japan). They met in Brittany, where they both worked in Bertrand Larcher's "Breizh Café" group. After more than 10 years with the group, they decided to migrate to Toulouse and open this "Maison Chaya" together, with the aim of fusing Brittany and Japan on the plate. Each recipe is a unique and original creation, featuring local and exclusively seasonal produce (the menu changes every 6 to 7 weeks). A real treat, right down to the well-thought-out desserts. The value for money is excellent (€40 to €50 all-inclusive per person), which also explains the incredible success of the establishment since it opened (it's full every night!), with a very young clientele, recognizing it as one of the best places to eat in Toulouse's hypercentre. Pleasant modern surroundings, young and enthusiastic service, right in the spirit of the place.
