Gault&Millau's review2026
Constance and Alexandre are moving upmarket in this beautiful house on Rue Royale: the setting is as charming as ever, blending authentic patina with contemporary touches, a library for spirits and antiquarian books, parquet flooring and moldings. The new dimension is brought about by the wellbeing, in an atmosphere of quiet chic, and the cuisine offered by new chef Antoine Coutier. Neither fashionable nor traditional, it is technically mastered and well personalized to the season and the region: the scrambled egg and Artois trout as an appetizer, the gourmet sea bass croquettes with tartar sauce, the veal and poultry boudin (rather a quenelle) with garden pea and mint coulis, flanked by a large scampi cooked with precision, all reveal a grown-up restaurant that offers a menu, leaves the choice and assumes a status. Confirmation comes with the turbot and zucchini flower stuffed with sea bream and mussels in saffron sauce, or the sucrine and broad bean pork chop, simpler but once again very precise in seasoning and presentation. A pleasant strawberry-rhubarb dessert, strawberry sorbet with mint granita and olive oil emulsion, a fine cellar clearly presented by the young owner Alexandre Dathy, who doesn't forget that he's also an excellent sommelier, with a coherent offer at progressive prices for all regions.
