Gault&Millau's review 2026

Purchased by the town in 2012 after more than a quarter-century of neglect, this elegant little château—built in the early 20th century by a wealthy industrialist—now houses about ten guest rooms as well as Pierre Carducci’s restaurant. The setting is charming; the lovely sunny terrace fills up at aperitif time, before guests settle into the beautiful, long, brightly colored dining room with its hardwood floors. This is a far cry from the soporific atmospheres that sometimes prevail in old châteaux (between the background music, the hum of the air conditioners, the fan in the corner of the room, and the comings and goings of the waitstaff, it’s impossible to fall asleep), and the plates, abundant, lively, and generous, seem to be infused with the same energy. Sometimes too much? They would undoubtedly benefit from being simplified at times—by removing one or two ingredients, or even going on a bit of a “diet” (at dinner, the restaurant imposes a 7- or 9-course menu that is anything but tasting portions)—in the hope of moving a little closer to the top tier. Highlights from our last visit included the lovely Mediterranean bluefin tuna, cooked to perfection and paired with blackcurrants and carrots, and the exquisite veal loin with mousserons mushrooms, wild garlic, and spring onions. The service is lively, and the wine cellar is impressive, with over 1,500 labels.
