Chef's Restaurant It's called the Secret Garden, and it's easy to see why, as you circle Cotignac twice before finding the little cul-de-sac that climbs a hundred meters or so to reach Benoit Witz's charming home. An 18th-century Provencal bastide, set amidst vineyards and olive groves, with a pretty, intimate dining room and a large terrace garden near the kitchen garden. It's the perfect setting for this seasoned chef, a graduate of Ducasse, Louis XV and Abbaye de la Celle. His cuisine can be summed up in three words: generous, sincere and natural, if not regional and avant-garde. Benoit Witz offers a unique menu that changes daily. On Mondays, it's "all lobster", not really a Cotignac specialty, but very relevant to the clientele. We start with a delicate cappuccino of lobster with coffee, followed by three beautiful celery ravioles, chard shoots and carcass jus, then like a thermidor revisited in the spirit of Escoffier, presented with its shell stuffed with pieces of lobster, shallots, toasted bread and parmesan that accompanies oyster mushrooms and soft gnocchi. A delight that continues with a cardamom yuzu soufflé... that doesn't fall apart! The wine list, mostly Provençal, remains reasonable. To finish, you can choose an infusion from the garden.
