Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin
Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin, widowed at the age of 27, gave her letters of nobility to this house founded in 1772 by her husband, thanks to her business talents, her character and her technical choices. In 1987, the 393-hectare estate was acquired by the LVMH group, making it the second-largest champagne brand by volume. Today, the wines reveal an added finesse while retaining a vinous style due to the high proportion of pinot noir in the blends. Didier Mariotti, who came over from Mumm, became cellar master in 2020, reigning over an incredible collection of reserve wines that allow for every kind of blending. A sure bet for Champagne, which has just celebrated its 250th anniversary.
