Who's been holding down the halles for the last twenty years? La Gourmandine, of course, which over the years has seen some of its competitors wither away, while its "bistro plus" formula continued to find new adepts. The cuisine is just the right amount of sophistication, not too expensive, and based on honest ingredients: home-smoked Pyrenean trout, sweetbread and mushroom vol-au-vent, home-made pork and foie gras pâté, Aubrac beef wellington confit foie gras and jus corsé au vin rouge, cordon bleu, Spanish sea bass, home-made cassoulet... Finish with a banoffee or the famous lemon tart, another house success. A well-stocked cellar at fair prices.
