Gault&Millau's review

12/20
Gourmet Restaurant On the corner of Place Thiars in the heart of Marseille, one of the city's tourist lungs, where you can eat everything from Indian and Chinese to local. The young clientele hurry before going out to Trolley or Bounce. A few tourists armed with their small suitcases take advantage of the place to sip their first pastis of the summer, before picking up their Airbnb. Here, the merry-go-round is rather cheerful and colorful. The short menu features proposals around the peeling bench, the pizza oven and a few fish dishes. One star is clearly visible here: the mussel! Gratinated in a wood-fired oven, but also in a marinière cream sauce, accompanied by fresh French fries. If you'd like to try some fish au naturel, the carpaccio of lean fish, and other semi-cooked tuna accompanied by a sauce vierge will undoubtedly please you. The dishes sometimes lose their southern compass. We navigate between a Grenoble-style wing, a lobster roasted in tarragon butter, and this roasted hake, potato gnocchi, with green vegetables whose cooking water has loosened the pesto a little too much. Desserts are relatively straightforward: chocolate mousse with praline and hazelnuts, strawberry coupe with chantilly, or a delicious apricot crumble with a hint of smoked rosemary. The wine list offers a fine selection of bottles at fair prices.
