Gourmet Restaurant In the middle of nowhere, it's a small miracle that this welcoming inn with the bearded Julien and his partner Victoria, radiant in the dining room, has come to life in this tiny village and become a destination thanks to them. Having left La Rochelle and the ocean for the rugged Cantal mountains, they've now found the warmth of the Auvergne and the trust of the locals. We'll trust the good ideas of the moment, starting with a plate of cheese and regional charcuterie, before a delicious velouté of mushrooms, ceps and trumpets picked in autumn, a good foie gras, salmon, smoked on site and cooked gently with a cabbage drop, Salers beef carbonade style with its grenailles, and black forest for dessert, for a meal that is generous, rooted and ultimately modern in its purpose. The excellent welcome is an added bonus, as is the summer terrace, and the small cellar allows for some pleasant wines by the glass, such as the owner's rasteau. The restaurant closed its doors at the end of August 2023 in Malbo, but reopens in a brand new location in the autumn, in the village of Vieillespesse, a few kilometers north of Saint-Flour.
