L'Écrin, the Hôtel de Crillon's 4-toque restaurant, will soon close
Open since 2017, L'Écrin de l'Hôtel de Crillon will perform its last service on December 31, 2025. The establishment is looking to expand its offering.
L'Écrin restaurant (4 toques), the Hôtel de Crillon's emblematic gourmet restaurant, will close its doors for good on December 31, 2025. This last service marks the end of an adventure that began in 2017, when the establishment, after renovation, reopened with this prestigious table.
A desired evolution
According to the hotel's communications department, the decision is not the result of any crisis or conflict: "L'Écrin is simply closing as part of an overall desire to evolve the gastronomic offering and constantly seek out unique experiences", they explain.
The departure of Xavier Thuizat, the hotel's emblematic head sommelier, will also confirm this renewal. Crowned Meilleur Sommelier de France in 2022 and Meilleur Ouvrier de France en sommellerie in 2023, he had made wine the backbone of L'Écrin. His departure marks the end of a glorious chapter, as the sommelier has chosen to move on to "numerous personal projects".
Although the closure of L'Écrin is a landmark event in the Parisian gastronomic landscape, it is not a sign of abandonment, but rather the beginning of a creative mutation. TheHôtel de Crillon leaves the door open to new ambitions, perhaps a new concept, another vision of palace gastronomy.
Other accessible dining outlets
Despite the announced closure of L'Écrin, the Hôtel de Crillon will continue to offer a rich and diverse culinary offering. The Nonos & Comestibles restaurant (1 toque), designed by Paul Pairet, will remain one of the palace's flagship addresses, with its "rotisserie chic" spirit and its direct, gourmet and generous cuisine. The Jardin d'Hiver, a haven of calm in the heart of the Crillon, will also continue to serve delicate cuisine in an atmosphere conducive to intimate get-togethers. The legendary Bar Les Ambassadeurs, with its signature cocktails, musical program and view of Place de la Concorde, remains a must for lovers of mixology and the Parisian art of living. Finally, the Butterfly patisserie, orchestrated by the talented Matthieu Carlin, will continue to delight palates with its refined, contemporary sweet creations.
