Description

The family estate Bourdaire-Gallois is located in the small village of Pouillon and is mainly growing Meunier (85% of the land) but also Chardonnay (10%) and Pinot Noir (5%). Robert Massonnot, grandfather of the current owner David Bourdaire, initiated the production of wine. In the fifties, he founded the local cooperative winery with three other winegrowers; he then proceeded to sell his first cuvées in 1956. In 2001, David left the cooperative and built his own wine press the following year. With Véronique Bourdaire-Gallois' help, he is now producing his cuvées as an independent winegrower.

Gault&Millau's review
The bright old gold colour of this cuvée induces the evolution of the vintage. The nose is fresh with aromas of mature fruits, vanilla, yellow peach, Mirabelle plum and fruit liqueur. On the palate, this vinous, chalky, structured cuvée creates a fresh mouthfeel. This fine wine would match well with chicken with morels.

Gault&Millau's review
This Rosé presents a plum colour with orange highlights. The nose, both generous and accurate, reveals aromas of vineyard peach, candied quetsche and biscuits. The light dosage introduces a voluptuous and mouth-watering mouthfeel; it then accompanies flavours of gooseberries and fresh citrus fruits. This champagne would match well with red fruit nougatine.

Gault&Millau's review
Issued from the blend of the three main grape varieties in Champagne, this cuvée reveals a nose of biscuits, soft spices, old rose, vineyard peach and fresh citrus fruits. On the palate, the wine is full bodied and creates a creamy, chalky, invigorating mouthfeel with its light dosage until a lengthy finish. This cuvée could be served over the apéritif of with braised pork.

Réserve

Gault&Millau's review
Le nez propose des notes fraîches et herbacées que l’on retrouve en bouche, le dosage discret révélant la trame acidulée de cette cuvée. À réserver pour un plateau de fruits de mer.

Gault&Millau's review
This cuvée shows a lot of personality while keeping its authenticity. The nose is both fresh and subtle; it reveals aromas of biscuits, white peach, quetsche, kumquat and candied lemon. On the palate, the wine is full bodied and shows flavours of dried fruits in brioche. The finish remains nevertheless chalky and presents a nice acidity. This champagne could be paired with scorpion fish.

Gault&Millau's review
The delicate bouquet of this cuvée evokes pastries; it reveals candied fruits and spices, quetsche and roasted pineapple. On the palate, the wine is pleasant, straight; some flavours of lemon also come out. The finish is chalky. The light dosage gives harmony to this champagne. It could be paired with sweetbreads.
