The nose tells of crushed raspberry, ripe wild strawberry, sweet spices (coriander, turmeric) and blood orange peel, with a fleshy, almost meaty side. On the palate, the wine is much fresher, with an intense acidic structure, reinforced by bubbles that are very present, but know how to fade away with elegance. There's a hint of English candy before an enveloping finish. The whole is powerful and deserves to be laid down to mellow out.

Waris-Hubert
Olivier and Stéphanie Waris, the fourth generation of Avize winemakers, have been at the helm of their champagne house since 1997. The 11-hectare vineyard covers the Grand Cru villages of Avize, Oger, Cramant, Chouilly and Aÿ, as well as the Premier Cru communes of Grauves and Bisseuil, and other terroirs such as Barbonne-Fayel and Marfaux. The range is designed by terroir, offering a wide range of different expressions, which is very interesting. There's also a no-sulfur-added cuvée from the Grauves terroir, in response to growing consumer demand. Independent, the family vinifies only its own grapes.
