Tasted in a decanted jeroboam, this cuvée is a pure Chardonnay from the Ambonnay terroir. The nose is toasty and expressive. On the palate, the wine reveals great amplitude, superb vinous roundness and a lingering, root-like finish. A top blanc de blancs to open with a fine pata negra.

Marguet
The fifth generation of winegrowers is now at the helm of Maison Marguet in Ambonnay, in the person of Benoît, who practises biodynamic viticulture. The family vineyards (7.3 ha in Ambonnay and 0.7 ha in Bouzy) are in production, as are those of certified organic partner winemakers based in Cumières, Mesnil-sur-Oger and Cramant. Working the soil with a draught horse, and using indigenous yeasts in part of the vinification process, the vineyard has made a conscious commitment to biodynamic viticulture. The wines are grandiose and deserve the attention of wine-lovers.
