A real favorite. All the superlatives wouldn't be enough to describe this exceptional bottle. Emotions ran high during the tasting, in an almost religious atmosphere, and for good reason: this bottle doesn't exist. The first vintage of the noble cuvée was 1979, and this one comes from the house's preliminary tests and has never been marketed. Made from a blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir, the wine reveals a radiant, brilliant old gold color. On the nose, notes of toast and brioche rub shoulders with aromas of white fruit and roasted dried fruit, with a strong whiff of Guayaquil chocolate. Elegant and noble, the palate radiates ripe, roasted fruit flavors. A perpetual vibrato of purity, simply magical! One of the best champagnes tasted this year.
