Chef's Restaurant It's 1 p.m. and you haven't made a reservation? Count on divine intervention, or take a seat at the counter if there's an empty stool. That's what Les Jalles is all about, a cheerful elbow-to-elbow atmosphere that sometimes makes you feel like you're eating off your neighbor's plate, a service that never has a second to breathe, slaloming as best it can in the meager spaces left between tables, and a clientele visibly delighted with their lot (understandably so), attracted by the pretty menu du jour or the attractive bistro menu, where we come across an impeccable Black Tiger prawn tartare with avocado and mango brunoise, or a silky chicken, cream of morel mushrooms and rigatoni with comté cheese. The two toques are solid, including for the desserts, admittedly unsurprising but flawless (tiramisu, brioche perdue, crème brûlée, Berthillon ice creams...) and for a cellar that makes the great leap between cutting-edge references and great classics.
