Gourmet Restaurant At the foot of the mountains, Moutiers has long been waiting for a culinary miracle. And since the demise of Le Coq Rouge, it's been hard to know where to have lunch before tackling the uphill slopes to Courchevel, Méribel or Val Thorens. But the arrival of Julie Ferreira, daughter of a solid kitchen fitter, has changed all that. First of all, the restaurant has been redone from top to bottom, offering wide open spaces and mezzanine walkways. Betting on ochre and white, it offers comfort and light. The three-course lunch menu, priced at €25, offers unrivalled value for money, with a strong emphasis on vegetables. The carrot and feta variation, or the sweet potato and perfect egg are great starters. As for the main courses, the pork filet mignon topped with homemade mashed potatoes, or the trout with buckwheat risotto, which just need a touch of seasoning, are sure to please. The desserts are well composed: caramelized tarte tatin, chocolate mousse or Savoy cookie, nothing could be simpler... The wine list, like that of softs, deserves more attention. Of course, you can get a good bottle for as little as €30, but it's a shame that Savoie is so under-represented on the menu.
