L'Abissiou doesn't have an ocean view for sale, but confirms that, as is often the case in very touristy towns, it's better to stray a little from the waterfront if you want to eat well. The alleyway is charming, and the pretty deep-blue façade hides a very warm table, which Mélanie Roussy, the chef's companion, energizes at every moment. In the kitchen, Boris Harispe (formerly of Villa Madie and L'Atelier d'Edmond) demonstrates his expertise with local fish in a pretty seven-course Profondeur menu featuring burnt mackerel, vegetable condiment and citrus whey, and red mullet confit, unctuous mussels, saffron gnocchi and red mullet liver condiment. Lovely contemporary cellar, with fine finds from the Vendée and Loire regions.
