Our favorite hotels with themed retreats

Our favorite hotels with themed retreats

On the edge of the countryside, by a lake or in the heart of Paris, 4 and 5-star hotels organize retreats around a variety of themes. What do they have in common? Well-being, escape... and a real sense of disconnection.

Pierre Gautrand

Detox, yoga, writing or fitness... themed retreats are all the rage. A chic remedy for ordinary anxiety, they offer a setting conducive to refocusing. In France, many luxury hotels are playing the customized wellness card. Here's a closer look at some inspiring addresses where you can treat yourself to a retreat.

La Pensée Sauvage at Domaine de Murtoli, fasting and detoxing

Well-known for its wellness retreats in the Vercors mountains, La Pensée Sauvage has set up shop in Corse-du-Sud, in the heart of the Domaine de Murtoli, one of the jewels of the Isle of Beauty. In the unspoilt Ortolo valley, between the turquoise sea and the sculptural mountains, this sensory interlude welcomes guests in small groups for a fasting or gentle detox. There are no miracle promises here, just a rigorous approach based on naturopathy, alternative medicine and a reconnection with deep nature. Mindfulness walks, energy treatments, cold-pressed juices, soothing silence: everything is designed to initiate an inner transformation. Those who leave speak of a lightning energy boost, a clearer mind and a new-found peace. A demanding but unforgettable experience, in a breathtaking setting. Special mention for the twelve greens designed by the famous American golf course designer Kyle Phillips.

Hotel HOY, urban temple to wellness

HOY - for House of Yoga or "today" in Spanish - offers a number of yoga classes for namaste lovers in the heart of Paris. The 22 pared-down rooms combine light wood, zellige and natural light, with ecological attention to detail (air purification with binchotan charcoal, dynamized water). On the second floor, Hélène Duval, a leading figure in infrared yoga, teaches her classes in a room heated to 30°C : Gentle Flow, Infra Pilates, Yin Detox, Fire & Inversions... The program is accessible to all, from neophyte to seasoned yogi, and punctuated by Sound Healing sessions to reconnect in depth. In the kitchen, Le Mesa offers a vegetarian, locavore menu inspired by Latin America. A hotel like a breath of fresh air.
