Gault&Millau's review
Founded in 1912 by the courageous Henri Lhôpital in the wake of the Champagne uprisings and based in Damery, this is a visionary family business. Bertrand Lhôpital, head of cellars and viticulture, represents the fourth generation. His strong commitment and respect for the terroirs have led Telmont to adopt a highly demanding environmental approach. In 2017, the estate obtained its first organic certification for part of its own 25 ha, supplemented by 55 ha under a supply contract. A real work of patience. The Rémy Cointreau group acquires a majority share in 2020. The house is defined by a unique style, airy and structured, between tension and freshness. Terroir expresses itself in cuvées that reveal all the specificities of nature. The company is also strongly committed to the environment, and intends to become 100% organic by 2025. Enough to seduce actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who invested in the brand in 2022.
