In one of the trendiest streets on the Cours Julien, with its thrift shops, flea markets and graffiti-covered walls, the Livingston is a well-known haunt for its ever-popular atmosphere, upscale street food and chef residencies. This season, chef Alexandre Gilles revisits Mediterranean cuisine with a modern twist, with small plates starters such as asparagus and cuttlefish, cucumber water, beef and veal croquette, tomato, anchovy and chilli, a pleasant leg of lamb with asparagus and peas, smoked bacon jam, verjuice, lamb jus and pecorino, or a blanc manger, almond, rhubarb and oxalis. The cellar is one of the house's great strengths, with a good selection of orange wines.
