Sponsored Originally from Orléans, Christine and Richard Lamat fell in love with the village of Talmont, one of France's most beautiful villages. Close to the church of Sainte-Radegonde, their restaurant overlooks the Gironde estuary, its terrace and rooftop offering superb sunsets. Le Promontoire was completely renovated at the beginning of the year, from the facade to the roofs, right down to the dining room, whose dazzling whiteness highlights the exposed beams and old fireplace. The menu features traditional French cuisine, with an emphasis on local produce and homemade dishes, such as poultry and foie gras terrine with Pineau des Charentes and onion-pineapple compote, papillote de la mer with Sève Feu de Joie cognac and almond liqueur, a burger with home-baked bread, and tiramisù with homemade galette charentaise. Christine and Richard are also keen to introduce guests to local vineyards, such as Arrivé and Hauts de Talmont, as well as to Aquitaine caviar, a long untapped commodity. The perfect place for a gourmet and curious getaway. From Easter to June and from September to November, the establishment is open every day except Tuesday, from 10am to 7pm.
