Here's the address of the world's best French fry shop 2023 (and it's in France)

For its first edition, the World French Fry Championship in Arras is set to make history. The lucky winner is French. Here's the address of his friterie.

For the first time, a world championship of French fries was organized, and it was held in Arras. From March to December 2023, the Hauts-de-France region is organizing a host of culinary events, as it has been designated "European Region of Gastronomy 2023".

The best French fry shop is French

For this global competition, some thirty candidates faced off from eight o'clock in the morning, in a festive and relaxed atmosphere. The program? Smells of fried food, potatoes, porcini fries, revisited moules-frites... Creativity was the watchword. "We' re here to explain that we can grow robust varieties that resist mildew, need little water and little fertilizer", explains Alain Delebecq, a specialist in organic potatoes, to 20 minutes.Candidates had to go through several stages to reach the final decision.

It was the "authentic French fries" category that determined where the world's best French fries could be found. Only catering professionals could take part, and seven of them chose to take up the challenge. One of them even came all the way from Quebec to try his luck. But when it comes to French fries, it seems that France has the upper hand. Aurèle Mestré took the title. To taste the world's most authentic French fries, you'll have to go to... Lille's Friterie Mestré. To accompany your plate of fries, you'll be able to taste the best sauce, while driving a little... The title went to Allan Gilley Pavard, of Le Verre volé restaurant in Paris. Enough to make your mouth water.
