Description

With a remarkable location in the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay, in the Montagne de Reims, Champagne Paul Déthune is represented today by Pierre Déthune. From seven hectares of vines, characterful champagnes, including 9 grand crus, are matured in barrels (also made in Champagne) and oak vats, and then aged in the beautiful chalk cellars. The domain uses organic practices and a "zero pesticides and insecticides" policy, with the certifications sustainable viticulture, Qualenvi and HVE. Private visits are possible by appointment to visit the press house, winery, cellars, work in the vineyards, and tastings of the champagnes).

Gault&Millau's review

Gault&Millau's review

Gault&Millau's review
With a noticeable orange cream tinted robe, orange spiced biscuits continue on nose with yellow round fruits and citruses. The bubbles and mousse are cristalline and mineral. Passionfruit opens the tropical palate of ripe pineapple, balanced with crunchy, fresh and juicy fruit (sour grapefruit and blood oranges, zest of citrus peels) smooth and silky, becoming creamy with almond paste, and vinous at the end.

Gault&Millau's review
The mellow and rich nose evokes velvet sensations and warmth, then suddenly crunchy tiny bubbles and a tonic and zesty fresh mousse arrive. Well maturing yellow fruits are vibrant and fresh, with a lot of lemon and grapefruit intensity, the perfectly integrated oak enhances the mellow smooth fruit profile, succulent and refreshing as acidity and minerality intensify, lingering pleasingly, a gourmet cuvée for the table.

Colour Effervescent rosé
Gault&Millau's review
The shiny coral and orange robe announces polished red round fruits and berries, with creamy old oak adding aroma and textures on the nose. Crinkly tiny bubbles and a frothy, creamy and tight mousse all at once, are due to the abundant citrus structure of this powerful wine, with tart sour cherries, bright acidity, full of presence, this rosé is gastronomic not gourmande.
