Description

Louis-Gilbert Penet became an independent vigneron (récoltant-manipulant) in Verzy after the economic crisis of 1929, and invested in digging 18 meter deep cellars in the chalk. His son Jean-Marie succeeded him and created the brand, and it is his eldest daughter Florence and Jean-Paul Lepreux who continue the story today. The vineyard covers about 8 hectares located on the Montagne de Reims, cultivated with attention to the microbial life of the soils, and the desire to combine modern production tools with traditional methods. The domain has been conducting winemaking trials in amphora since 2017.

Colour Effervescent blanc
Gault&Millau's review
The effervescence is intense yet somewhat fleeting. The nose of this Blanc de Blancs mainly reveals aromas of vanilla ice cream and fresh grapes. On the palate, the wine is delicate and offers notes of soft spices. This champagne would match well with poultry with sultanas.

Colour Effervescent blanc
Gault&Millau's review
The colour is light gold and thin bubbles animate the glass. The nose evokes plums, almonds and a hint of peony. On the palate, the wine is round and voluptuous, with a somewhat powdery finish and a hint of bitterness. It could be paired with roast veal with morels.

Bulles Précieuses

Type Extra brut
Millesime BSA
Gault&Millau's review

This cuvée, entirely from Pinot Noir, presents a copper colour and offers a beautiful effervescence of thin and delicate bubbles. The nose reveals delicious aromas of crushed strawberries and nougatine. On the palate, the lively and crispy attack gives way to notes of small red fruits and toasted almonds. This is a balanced wine with a perfect dosage in sugar.

Gault&Millau's review

This amber-coloured ratafia, entirely issued from Pinot Noir, is a real treat. It offers aromas of roasted pineapple, plum brandy, star fruit and vanilla. On the palate, it is a real delicacy: it is round and enveloping, with hints of soft spices and honey. It could be paired with ewe’s milk cheese.
