Description

With its roots planted in the majestic Côte des Blancs, Champagne Etienne Calsac has enterprisingly installed the production of the house in the industrial estate at the bottom of the Grand Cru village of Avize. From a long line of winemakers present in this region since the eighteenth century, Etienne continues to transmit the family philosophy through his champagnes. A personal journey punctuated by wine studies and international experience allows him to combine tradition, technique and modernity. The 3 hectare estate is certified HVE and Viticulture durable in Champagne and is in organic conversion. A new single parcel cuvée Les Rocheforts Blanc de Blancs has been launched from Premier Cru Bisseuil.

Clos des Maladries

Gault&Millau's review
Superb first impression with this milky olfactory sensation of fresh cream, Timut pepper, mandarin and verbena. A very gourmet experience that suggests that the tasting should be from the top of the house range. Enveloping creaminess and spicy acidity in the mouth is punctuated on the finish with mineral notes of albedo and warm chalk.

Gault&Millau's review
Young, but beautifully mature, this 100% Chardonnay takes us on a walk through the Garden of the Hesperides, oscillating between a very spring-like universe of white flowers, such as jasmine and carnation, and the bewitching perfume of citrus fruits, notably mandarins and kumquat. It's wildly elegant. And the palate is tracing and tangy in the same spirit. Bravo! Perfect for a great aperitif accompanied by avocado-smoked salmon canapés.

Gault&Millau's review
A cuvée that is unique in every way: first of all, the choice of grape varieties that transports us into a new universe, oscillating between a fine and delicate floral character and a reassuringly ripe white fruitiness; then a vinification that, while respecting the purity of the fruit, brings superb volume to the palate and a chiselled and tangy finish. A champagne of panache, with communicative energy: we love it without compromise! Savour on its own or accompanied by lobster and scallop papillotes cooked with champagne.

Gault&Millau's review
