A 2014 whose back label specifies "montage" to indicate the majority origin of grapes from Verzy, a grand cru village in the Montagne de Reims north. The nose is both subtle and powerful. It precedes an ample palate, structured around a particularly full, luscious mid-palate. The texture is remarkable and the length perfect, finely chalky. Its salivating character makes you want to come back for more. A very successful champagne to be opened at the table with a choice dish such as a woodcock terrine.

2026 is a special year for this family-owned, independent winery, as it marks both the 250th anniversary of the winery’s founding and the 150th anniversary of the Cristal cuvée created for Tsar Alexander II. This iconic cuvée should not overshadow the rest of the range, produced from 250 hectares of vineyards (135 of which are certified organic) that the management teams have patiently acquired over the centuries, beginning with Louis Roederer, a visionary who sought to control every stage of his wines’ production. For the past twenty years, cellar master Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon has been in charge.
