Leclerc Briant
Founded in Cumières in 1872 by Lucien Leclerc, the estate moved to Épernay in 1955. At the same time, under the leadership of Bertrand Leclerc, great-grandson of the founder, and his wife, Jacqueline Briant, the estate became a trading house and took the name Leclerc Briant. Bought by American couple Mark Nunnelly and Denise Dupré in 2012, the house welcomed Champagne's Frédéric Zeimett at its helm the following year. Now one of the region's pioneers of biodynamic viticulture, Leclerc Briant extends over 14 ha of vines, mostly located in grand cru (Mailly, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger) and premier cru (Hautvillers, Cumières, Bisseuil, Trépail, Rilly-la-Montagne, Villers-Allerand), and supplements its supplies by purchasing grapes from a handful of certified organic growers. Hervé Jestin, an oenologist specializing in biodynamic viticulture, has been with the company for several years. Passionate about the French art of living, Mark and Denise have also opened Le 25 bis, in Épernay. A family home with 5 rooms and warm, refined decor.
