Yann Alexandre
With just over 6 hectares (mainly Pinot Noir and Meunier), spread over nine communes, including three Premier Crus, Yann and Séverine Alexandre, winegrowers who claim to be totally independent, have opted for parcel-based vinification to preserve the characteristics of each terroir and grape variety for as long as possible. In the vineyard, working the soil and planting grass are part of the specifications: for the past twenty years, no herbicides have been used, and a vegetation cover has been maintained on the 27 plots. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak barrels, without malolactic fermentation. In addition to the three main Champagne grape varieties, the winemaker vinifies two confidential varieties: arbane and petit meslier.
