While the Gonet family has owned vines in Mesnil-sur-Oger for seven generations, Michel Gonet chose to strike out on his own, setting up his own business in Avize in 1973. He quickly bought vineyards, building up a comfortable estate, four-fifths of which is planted with Chardonnay. Assisted now by his children (his daughter Sophie is co-manager of the estate), he has for many years been offering a series of excellent grands crus with great regularity.
