Here's where the restaurant for France's best crêpier of 2023 is located
Crowned France's best crêpier, Jérémy Le Gall runs a small crêperie in a bucolic setting. Find out where! Hint: it's in a region famous for its galettes...
That's what we call "bringing the cup home". Jérémy Le Gall, 30, has just been crowned Best Crepe Maker in France, at an official competition held in Bruz, near Rennes, on November 21, 2023. And it's fitting that the restaurant where the young chef works is located in Brittany.
Where can you enjoy the best crêpes in France?
To win the coveted title, Jérémy Le Gall competed against thirteen other candidates. Like the others, he had to present two wheat crêpes and two buckwheat crêpes (one plain each). For his sweet crepe, the young man proposed an "apple kouign amann krampouz with caramel cream", while for his savory recipe, he opted for a buckwheat crepe with Breton scallops. His little secret? "Butter! A lot of butter and a lot of love," he laughs.
It has to be said that Jérémy Le Gall has been well schooled and is a regular in competitions. In 2010, he was voted best apprentice in Finistère, before joining Le M, a top restaurant in Brest. He then decided to give up gastronomy to devote himself "to the terroir and its products".
So, where can you enjoy Jérémy Le Gall's now-famous crêpes? France's best crêpier 2023 has been officiating since March at the Blé Noir crêperie in Bois de Kéroual, Guilers, Finistère. To try his creations, however, you'll need to make a reservation! Since his victory, the restaurant has been fully booked for lunch and dinner. "A former candidate warned me that it could bring in 25 to 30% more customers", says the crepe-maker delightedly. To find out more about Blé Noir :
