Toquicimes: the mountain food festival returns soon

Toquicimes: the mountain food festival returns soon

Pauline Masotta | 9/28/23, 5:18 PM

Toquicimes, the mountain food festival in Megève looks forward to its 6ᵉ edition October 20 to 22, 2023, the Toquicimes festival returns with a farm theme. Here's everything you need to know.

Now the epicenter of mountain cuisine, the most gourmet village in the Alps is gearing up for an exceptional gastronomic celebration. For three days, in an unprecedented format, Megève will play host to the future of the French culinary scene. Guests will include Michelin-starred chefs, young culinary talents, personalities from the world of gastronomy, local farmers, producers and artisans. All will be highlighted by Toquicimes.

Toquicimes has the wind in its sails

For six years now, the Toquicimes event has been eagerly awaited. Last year, the festival attracted 22,000 participants. Proof that mountain gastronomy is something to celebrate. This year, the festival will be sponsored by Glenn Viel and will be dedicated to short circuits and producers. But that's not all. Exceptionally, this sixth edition will take place outdoors over three days. This year, the event will offer a plunge into local history and culture. An opportunity to meet the farms and their people.

Toquicimes 2023: the program

More than ever, ethical, sustainable and ecological consumption is at the heart of the debate. And Toquicimes has understood this. During the "market challenge", four teams will compete to create a menu on a budget of 20 euros. All this, while promoting the weekly Megève farmers' market. But this is not the only new feature of the event. During the "Foode Savoie Mont Blanc" master class, four renowned chefs and pastry chefs will be invited to create, in two hours, a trompe-l'oeil inspired by mountain landscapes, in order to revisit an emblematic dish. Finally, following in the footsteps of recent initiatives, Toquicimes will be offering a masterclass on the theme of plants, "in two closely related worlds: pastry-making and the bar trade".

Festival-goers will also be able to rediscover Toquicimes classics such as the "waitresses' and waiters' race", to "honor the service professions". The festival will also be an opportunity to pick up invaluable cooking tips. Tricks of the trade and recipe secrets will be revealed...
