The Saint-Marcellin and Grenoble Walnut Festival returns in June
Head for Vinay for a 100% gourmet weekend. On June 14 and 15, 2025, the Fête du Saint-Marcellin et de la Noix de Grenoble returns for a second edition dedicated to know-how and conviviality.
The Fête du Saint-Marcellin et de la Noix de Grenoble is back for another edition. Organized by Saint-Marcellin Vercors Isère Communauté, the towns of Vinay and Saint-Marcellin, the Comité du Saint-Marcellin et du Saint-Félicien and the Comité Interprofessionnel de la Noix de Grenoble, the event celebrates two of the region's flagship products.
This year, it takes place on the Champ de Mars in Vinay, and for the first time benefits from the Vallée de la Gastronomie label. It's an opportunity to celebrate the region's agricultural and artisanal riches alongside the people who bring it to life: producers, artisans, chefs and enthusiasts.
A lively, gourmet program
All weekend long, the Village des Saveurs, set up on the Champ de Mars, will be offering a wide variety of local products to discover and buy. There will also be food courts where you can sample local specialities. In terms of entertainment, the program emphasizes sharing, discovery and conviviality.
On Saturday, the festivities kick off at 2pm with several highlights:
- A tasting of Grenoble PDO walnut cake, followed by a prize-giving ceremony.
- Workshops on food preservation, including techniques for dehydrating fruit and vegetables.
- A zero-waste snack featuring Saint-Marcellin IGP, Grenoble PDO walnuts, seasonal fruit and an artisanal drink.
- at 7:30 p.m., a concert will bring the day to a musical close.
On Sunday, there's even more entertainment:
- A waste sorting challenge and a recycled paper workshop.
- A herding dog demonstration and an olive pressing demonstration.
- A conference-debate on the benefits of physical activity, followed by an introduction to stretching by a physiotherapist.
- not to be missed: the walnut cracking competition, open to all, which will elect the world champion. The objective? Crack 50 walnuts as quickly as possible without damaging the kernels!
- And for the most creative, there's a competition for sculptures made from recycled materials, to be submitted by Sunday lunchtime. Prizes awarded at 5pm.
The Grand Séchoir will open its doors for two cooking workshops:
- Saturday at 3pm: walnut jam workshop
- Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.: Honey and walnut cake workshop
Throughout the weekend, children can enjoy a dedicated corner with coloring pages and wooden games. A mini-farm will also provide an insight into local farming practices and dairy production.
Meals featuring regional produce will be served on Saturday evening and Sunday lunchtime (25 euros, reservation on site or online), with several foodtrucks present on site.
