On Monday November 17, the great family of French gastronomy gathered at the Maison de la Mutualité in Paris. The late afternoon began with the award ceremony, where chefs, sommeliers and restaurant managers patiently awaited the revelation of the Trophées 2026.
" Since my arrival, we have embarked on a plan to revitalize the fine institution that is Gault & Millau. And the year 2025 has kept many of its promises, a year under the sign of digitalization and internationalization", declared Chairman and CEO Patrick Hayoun in his opening speech. He then went on to outline our plans for next year. " What do we have in store for you in 2026? To rejuvenate our brand without losing its bearings, to be even more attractive and to win over all your restaurant's customer audiences by increasing our notoriety and visibility with the general public. We have continued to accelerate our digitalization drive, the most visible change being the search engine, which today is capable of doing what we expect it to do, namely to find your restaurant easily and all the information quickly and efficiently. "
The winners of the Trophées Gault&Millau 2026 are...
Behind these awards lies a rigorous process. According to Marc Esquerré, Director of Gault&Millau Surveys, the awarding of the Trophies is based both on meals and experiences in the field, which weigh enormously in the final score, and on the career and key moment of each professional. Thus, the Chef of the Year rewards a landmark achievement in a chef's career, the Grand de Demain confirms a fine discovery identified by the investigators, and the Jeune Talent celebrates a recent revelation. The final deliberations are conducted by a select committee, made up of management, notably CEO Patrick Hayoun, and Marc Esquerré as the surveyors' representative, ensuring a balanced judgment between practical experience and strategic vision.
