¡Qué Gusto! Festival: Éric Guérin’s Mother and Two French Female Chefs in Mexico City
She has never run a restaurant. From November 23 to 29, however, Michèle Guérin will represent French cuisine in Mexico City alongside Chloé Charles and Manon Gouin, who are guests at the ¡Qué Gusto! festival.
This is a first for ¡Qué Gusto!: Alongside two professional chefs, the festival is inviting a home cook. Founded in Paris in 2015 to promote Mexican cuisine in France, this time it’s reversing course. Its first Mexican edition is part of the program marking the bicentennial of diplomatic relations between France and Mexico, organized by the French Embassy. On the agenda: gatherings between chefs, traditional home cooks, and producers focused on ingredients, culinary expertise, and the passing down of traditions.
Three guests, three culinary styles
Chloé Charles, trained at Ferrandi and discovered on *Top Chef*, champions seasonal, locally sourced, and zero-waste cuisine. Manon Gouin, 25, works in pastry at Mallory Gabsi’s restaurant (3 toques) in Paris, following a stint in Norway. She focuses on precision, fermentation, and aromatic exploration.
Michèle Guérin, an Alsatian now living in Loire-Atlantique and mother of Éric Guérin (La Mare aux Oiseaux, 3 toques), has always cooked for her loved ones and visitors to her art gallery: sauerkraut, baeckeoffe, and homemade tarts. A profile that echoes the role of traditional Mexican cooks, guardians of regional recipes.

Xochimilco, Cordon Bleu, and an Eight-Handed Dinner
On November 23, the guests will explore the chinampas of Xochimilco—an ancestral agricultural system in the Valley of Mexico—while enjoying a menu created by a traditional cook, followed by a launch cocktail reception at Los Pinos. On the 24th, Manon Gouin will lead a pastry masterclass at Le Cordon Bleu México in front of approximately 70 students. On the 25th, the three French women will join Alexis Preschez, chef at the Sofitel Mexico City Reforma, for an eight-hand dinner.
Two days of festivities open to the public
On November 28 and 29, the Complejo Cultural Los Pinos will host a free Franco-Mexican market featuring French products made or sold in Mexico, local specialties, demonstrations, workshops, talks, and tastings. Five traditional Mexican cooks will present their specialties there.
