Two chefs transform a Savoyard refuge into a gourmet restaurant

Two chefs transform a Savoyard refuge into a gourmet restaurant

In La Féclaz, Kévin Vaubourg and Lucille Routin take over the Chalet du Sire to create a four-handed gourmet restaurant. Opening planned for June 2026.

Mathilde Bourge

Perched at an altitude of 1500 metres in the heart of the Bauges massif, Chalet du Sire is about to write a new page in its history. This well-known address for La Féclaz hikers, renowned for its spectacular views over Lac du Bourget, Chambéry and Mont Blanc, will soon be taken over by chefs Kévin Vaubourg and Lucille Routin. Starting in June 2026, the duo will open a four-handed gourmet restaurant deeply rooted in the region.

A table inspired by the Bauges

For over six decades, the Chalet du Sire has been part of the Savoyard landscape. An emblematic starting point for hikers on their way to the Croix du Nivolet, the place cultivates a simple, authentic image, supported by an exceptional natural environment. It's precisely this identity that the two chefs wanted to preserve, while instilling a new culinary ambition.

For Lucille Routin, originally from Chambéry, it's a return to her roots. As for Kévin Vaubourg, he has found a new field of expression. Together, they have imagined a table inspired by the mountain pastures, working closely with local producers and the resources of the massif. Their project aims to defend a contemporary yet deeply rooted cuisine, attentive to the surrounding nature and the region's farming heritage.

Two paths, one vision

Before embarking on this joint adventure, Kévin Vaubourg and Lucille Routin built up their careers in several of France's leading establishments. The former worked with Gilles Goujon and Jean-Luc Rabanel, before spending several years in the world ofAnne-Sophie Pic. As for the second, she cut her teeth in Savoie, working with such renowned figures in Alpine gastronomy as Jean Sulpice, Emmanuel Renaut and Clément Bouvier.

With Chalet du Sire, the two chefs have chosen to return to a more personal project, in a discreet, lively and inspiring mountain range. There's no doubt that this address will be one to watch this summer.
