Beaujolais Nouveau 2025: 5 Gault&Millau favorites
The 2025 vintage of Beaujolais Nouveau has arrived. What about this vintage? Discover our five favorite cuvées.
Born in 1951, Beaujolais Nouveau enjoyed great renown in the 60s and 70s. In French towns and villages, bistros came alive to the rhythm of its release. To this day, the wine retains a loyal following, and has established itself as an ambassador for France abroad.
when did Beaujolais Nouveau 2025 come out?
In 1985, a decree set the marketing date at the third Thursday in November. The 2025 vintage is available for sale from this Thursday, November 20, 2025.
Why does Beaujolais Nouveau fall on a Thursday?
Beaujolais Nouveau is always sold on a Thursday. It's a compromise we've found to make the release both festive and practical. Setting the date for the third Thursday in November ensures that :
- It's a weekday: This allows people to celebrate with friends or colleagues after work.
- It's not on a Monday or Friday: This avoids the party falling just before or just after the weekend.
- It's a regular date: The third Thursday in November has become an unmissable date, allowing everyone to plan ahead.
Is Beaujolais Nouveau 2025 any good?
Beaujolais Nouveau wines are produced on the 8,000 ha of the Beaujolais and Beaujolais-Village appellations. These wines, made by over 700 men and women winemakers, come from a multitude of terroirs and climates, which has a major impact on their organoleptic qualities. The vintage effect will also be important. Although almost all the wines are red, you may find a few rosé Beaujolais Nouveaux.
The 2025 vintage starts the year with mild weather conditions. Spring and summer alternated between rain, with occasional hail, and heat, with several weeks of heatwave and drought in July and August. As a result, the grapes ripened well, while disease pressure was stabilized, resulting in healthy vines.
as in many "5" years in the region, the harvest came early, starting at the end of August. Fortunately, the rains just before harvest were beneficial in fine-tuning the balance, and the winegrowers harvested concentrated grapes with great aromatic freshness. Jean-Marc Lafont, President of Inter Beaujolais, is delighted: " The vines are healthy, the sun-drenched grapes have a sugar/acid balance close to perfection. "The only fly in the ointment is a small harvest, resulting in low volumes for this high-quality vintage.
Beaujolais Nouveaux are already very pleasant to taste from this Thursday, November 20, 2025; depending on the vinification or ageing methods chosen by the winemakers, you'll be able to find cuvées with real ageing potential. Ideal for surprising your friends by tasting them in 2026 or later, with excellent value for money.

This wine is all elegance, both visually with its light cherry color, aromatically with a bouquet of citrus (yuzu, citron), jasmine and vegetal (clementine and raspberry leaves), and on the palate with a fluid, silky texture. Delicate, gourmand, spring-like, joyful and luminous.
