Adopt a clementine tree, the perfect way to enjoy fresh fruit at home

To enjoy fresh clementines or apples direct from the grower, it's now possible to adopt fruit trees. Here are the advantages and how to go about it.

In autumn or winter, after a heavy meal, there's nothing like a fresh clementine. To make sure you always have some on hand, and especially good quality ones, why not adopt a clementine tree? Here are five good reasons to give in to temptation.

5 good reasons to adopt a clementine tree

A case of fresh Corsican clementines delivered straight to your door - that's possible thanks to crowdfarming. The idea? Adopt a clementine tree from a farmer, then receive fresh fruit from the chosen tree throughout the season. That's the idea behind Domaines de la Taste in Tallone, a small village on Corsica's eastern coast.

This initiative is a win-win situation for both the farmer and the consumer. Crowdfarming makes it possible to :

  • forge a direct link with the farmer you wish to support;
  • know exactly where the food you eat comes from;
  • limit food waste, because unlike supermarkets, farmers don't throw away "imperfect" fruit;
  • reduce transport time between harvest and consumption;
  • reward those who feed us by allowing them to know in advance what they will be selling. In this way, they can plan harvests and set their own prices, without having to align themselves with the competition, which generally sees farmers' incomes fall.

Like the idea? Nothing could be simpler. Simply visit the crowdfarming website, adopt the tree of your choice, name it and schedule the desired deliveries. The grower will then send the crates of fruit directly to your home, but you can also visit his farm at any time. If clementines are in season, you can do the same with apples, avocados, olive oil or even adopt a cow to receive cheese.
